Policies, licence and accessibility.

The Institute collects personal information only where it is needed to run a service you have asked for, in accordance with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and Manitoba privacy legislation.

What we collect

• Enquiries: the name, organisation, email, phone number and message you submit.
• Course registration: the above, plus billing details and any accessibility or dietary requirements you tell us about.
• Membership: the above, plus tier, renewal date and voting eligibility.
• Newsletter: your email address and the date you subscribed.
• Server logs: IP address, browser type and pages requested, retained for 30 days for security and to count downloads in aggregate.

What we do with it

We use it to answer you, to deliver the course or membership you have purchased, to meet our audit and charitable reporting obligations, and to send the newsletter if you asked for it. We do not sell, rent or trade personal information, and we do not use it for advertising. Data is stored on servers located in Canada. Payment card details are handled by our payment processor and are never stored by the Institute.

How long we keep it

Enquiries are deleted after two years. Course and membership records are kept for seven years to satisfy audit requirements. Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe. Aggregated, de-identified download counts are kept indefinitely.

Your rights

You may ask what we hold about you, ask for a correction, withdraw consent, or ask for deletion where we are not required to retain the record. Write to info@ofivoll.club or to the Privacy Officer at the address below; we respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied, you may complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

By using ofivoll.club you accept these terms. They are governed by the laws of the Province of Manitoba and the federal laws of Canada applicable in it.

Technical content is a reference, not a design

Reports, field notes, guidance, datasets and drawings describe measurements taken from specific assemblies under stated conditions. They are published as a technical reference. They do not constitute engineering or architectural advice for your project, do not replace design by a qualified professional, and do not override the requirements of the authority having jurisdiction. You are responsible for judging whether a result applies to your building.

No warranty

The site and its contents are provided as they are. We take care with our measurements and correct errors promptly when they are found, but we do not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted or that every figure is free from error. To the extent permitted by law, the Institute is not liable for loss arising from the use of published material.

Fees and registration

Course and membership fees are stated in Canadian dollars and include applicable taxes. Cancellation terms are published with each course. Membership dues are non-refundable once the term has begun but may be transferred within an organisation.

Corrections

Where a published figure is found to be wrong, we issue a corrected edition, note the change on the catalogue entry and notify anyone who has told us they rely on it. Four of our forty-one reports carry such a notice.

All Institute publications and datasets are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International licence. You may copy, redistribute, adapt and build on the material for any purpose, including commercially, provided you give appropriate credit and indicate whether changes were made.

Preferred citation: Ofivoll Envelope Institute, [title], Report [number], Winnipeg, Manitoba, [year].

Where you adapt a detail drawing for project use, please note the source and the test conditions under which the value was measured, since a Ψ-value or moisture result carries its boundary conditions with it. Photographs of occupied buildings are excluded from the licence where an owner has asked that they not be redistributed; these are marked on the catalogue entry.

The Institute aims to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA across this website and to meet its obligations under the Accessibility for Manitobans Act.

What we have done

• Semantic structure, landmarks and a skip link, so the site can be navigated by keyboard and screen reader.
• Visible focus indicators on every interactive control, and no keyboard traps.
• Text and interface colours tested for contrast against the palette used here.
• Diagrams carry text alternatives; the interactive wall-assembly figure also reports its results as text, so no conclusion depends on seeing the drawing.
• Motion is limited and is disabled entirely when your device requests reduced motion.
• Datasets are published in plain CSV alongside any formatted version.

Known limitations

Some older reports in the catalogue are scanned PDFs that are not fully tagged. We are re-mastering them at a rate of about six a year and will supply an accessible version of any document on request, normally within five working days.

Events and premises

Our office has a level entrance on Portage Avenue and elevator access. Course venues are selected for step-free access; please tell us on registration what you need, including ASL–English interpretation, live captioning or materials in advance. The reference wall yard is an active outdoor site with uneven ground — contact us and we will arrange an alternative way to take part.

If you meet a barrier on this site or at one of our events, write to info@ofivoll.club or call (204) 555-0173. We acknowledge accessibility feedback within two working days.

This site uses no advertising cookies, no third-party tracking pixels and no cross-site profiling. There is no consent banner because there is nothing to consent to beyond what is strictly necessary.

• Strictly necessary: a session cookie set only when you register for a course or renew a membership, to keep the form and payment step together. It expires when you close the browser.
• Preference: where you change a display setting, it is stored on your own device and is never sent to us.
• Measurement: download counts are taken from server logs in aggregate, with IP addresses truncated and logs deleted after 30 days. No analytics script runs in your browser.

Fonts are served from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address as part of that request. If you would rather avoid it, the site remains fully usable with web fonts blocked.
