Membership dues fund about a fifth of the measurement program and all of the northern travel. In return members shape what gets studied, see drafts before release, and pay roughly 20 % less for every course — but the published results stay free for everyone.
For individuals
Architects, engineers, consultants, energy advisors, building officials and contractors' quality staff who work on envelopes in cold climates.
For firms up to 15 staff
Small architecture, engineering and consulting practices. Covers everyone in the office rather than a named individual.
For public bodies and universities
Housing authorities, municipalities, provincial agencies, colleges and university research groups. Priced below cost because these members host most of our northern stations.
For large firms and manufacturers
Firms over 15 staff, building owners with large portfolios, and product manufacturers. Manufacturer members may speak at the annual general meeting but do not vote on technical matters and hold no technical committee seats.

* Manufacturer members hold no vote on technical matters and no technical committee seat. This restriction is written into the by-laws and can only be changed by a two-thirds vote of the individual and public members.
Full-time students at a Canadian college or university pay $40 CAD a year, attend the symposium free, and receive the practitioner member rate on courses. Proof of enrolment is required each year.
